Automatic filter press

In an automatic filter press , the whole process  is fully automated. Automatic filter presses usually comes with a plate shifting mechanism to move the plates and allow rapid cake discharge from the chambers of filter press. The advantage of using automatic filter presses is that the cycle time reduces and the manpower can be reduced.

    In an automated system , the complete operation, from the feeding through the end of  the filtration cycle, is begun through a single
  "start" push button in central control panel . The valves should be solenoid actuated valves to ensure press can be operated in fully  automated mode.

FILTER PRESS AND ITS APPLICATION

The filter presses have been widely used in many industries like Effluent treatment, Sewage treatment , Waste-water, Edible Oil Industries, Metals and Mining, Ceramic, Chemicals, Food, Pharmaceutical and various other Industries.

Filter presses are used in all aspects of the manufacturing cycle from production of goods to filtration for final product development to waste stream sludge dewatering for disposal.  Filter presses can be used to separate and retrieve the desired solids, liquids, or in some applications both. 

The designing of each filter press varies according to the type of applications, nature and characteristics of the material to be filtered. The filtrate clarity and the moisture percentage in the final cake depend largely on the type of material.

Filter press can be used to remove only suspended solids and dissolved solids cannot be removed. Also, the colour of the liquid cannot be changed except that there will be a very slight difference in colour after removal of suspended solids

Filter press is used wherever dewatering / filtration is required . Filter press is used in most of the application as it is economical and simple to use . Application where the filter press are commonly used are list below

Filter Press Overview

A filter press is equipment used for filtration / separation processes, specifically in solid/liquid separation using the principle of pressurisation driven by a feed pump. The filter press is used in fixed-volume and batch operations, which means that the operation must be stopped to discharge the filter cake before the next batch can be started. The major components of a filter press are the structure, filter plates and a closing device. The structure holds the filter plates pack together while pressure is being developed inside the filtration chamber. The chamber however can only hold a specific volume of solids.

Filter presses are highly efficient, require little maintenance and operational expense and are a cost effective solution for many filtration projects.
